Why Phoster Creativity?
Phoster Creativity is an art ministry. It is called a ministry because it serves. It serves in many ways.
It serves as a place where any of God's children can come and play. Through art. Through creativity. In His image. We were designed by a very Creative God. When I look at anything that has breath, I see infinite details, from DNA codes to colors and function. I sit in awe and marvel at how every element was thought out, how all of creation is so unique, and how everything works together. And we have the privilege to share in God's attribute of creating. He made us creative.
It serves as a place where we "foster" creativity. We are encouraging and developing creative expression that is uniquely bound up in each of us. There are over 7 billion people and no two are exactly the same! There are over 7 billion unique ways of expression- because we all express ourselves differently. Art is limitless. We have yet to see what God is capable of creating. I believe we have yet to see what we are capable of creating.
It serves as a haven- a refuge. There is darkness in this world, but my eyes are on the Light. Phoster is a greek word that means light- that which gives light. Splendor, radiance, brightness, shining. These are all words that fall under the definition of phoster. In a world that is burdened and heavy with turmoil and conflict, God offers peace and joy. He does so through His very presence. He is here among us, working in us. I believe that as we sit through the process of expressing and creating, we move into His presence and He begins to reach those dark places. As we allow the Holy Spirit access to our heart, we safely transfer our buried stories to the "canvas". They no longer suffocate, but breathe and heal. God heals through art.
It serves as a place to shine brightly for Christ. In Philippians 2:15, Paul writes, "Live clean, innocent lives as children of God, shining like bright lights in a world full of crooked and perverse people". The word "shining" is "phoster". There are many ways to reach a broken world for the Kingdom of God. I chose art. Or maybe God chose art for me. I believe that this ministry will serve the community and shine brightly for Jesus. My heart has no other motive than to bring Light into the lives of God's children through art.

What?
A variety of classes will be held that offer different mediums and themes. I like to use a variety of material for art. Some of these materials are what others consider garbage, scraps, or useless. Others come from craft/art stores or even food stores. I pull from many different places.
I like to have fun and play. For me, it's just as much about the creative process and how it shapes us, as learning art techniques. Phoster Creativity is focused on learning about God through art; through art play and experimentation. Many of the lessons are intended to uncover our hearts. They teach us about mercy, grace, love and truth.
Keep an eye on the blog, as I will be sharing what classes we will be offering, what upcoming themes are, what we will be doing and what the heart behind it is. I will also share what God has been doing through the ministry, how others can get involved and what we've been creating.
